Say No To idolatry
April 22, 2024Balance, Growth and Stability
May 15, 2024When God saves us, he puts us immediately and eternally in the community of the Spirit, the body of Christ, which comprises all who belong to him in every place. Acts 2:42-47.
Pentecost, featuring the outpouring of the spirit, was followed by the birth of a community rather than isolated individuals making ‘a thing’ for themselves from their personal experiences at Pentecost.
Though the Pentecostal experience was both corporate and personal, indicated by the tongue of fire settling on each of them, it gave rise to a community with a shared life. It was not recorded that the people went off on their own after their experiences at Pentecost; instead, we read about them coming together to form something greater than themselves.
It takes a believer who sees the bigger picture, the intent of God in ensuring that a believer is not half-baked, to submit himself to fellowship with brethren from other denominations.
For instance, If a ministry teaches prophecy and prayer more than other Christian themes, members of such ministry profess great zeal for these themes while they may not be knowledgeable about other aspects.
In this way, they impair their growth and may be unable to measure up to the complete standard in their knowledge of Christ.
Therefore, to achieve balanced spiritual growth, a believer should be nourished by the collective spiritual richness of the body of Christ obtained by fellowshipping with diverse believers.
